- Must be 18 years of age to apply for any entry-level position.
- Must have a high school diploma or state-issued GED. Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must not have been convicted of a DUI within the last (3) THREE years.
- No misdemeanor marijuana use within the past (1) ONE year or a pattern of habitual marijuana use that suggests unrehabilitated substance abuse.
- No illegal drug use of any hard drugs, including but not limited to Cocaine, LSD, Crank/Crack, Ecstasy, Heroin, or mushrooms in the past (5) FIVE years or use that would suggest unrehabilitated substance abuse.
- No illegal sale, distribution, manufacturing, or distribution of any drug.
- No outstanding criminal charges.
- No family violence convictions.
- No felony convictions.
- If you have prior military service, any dishonorable discharge from any branch of the U. S. military or any discharge that makes an applicant ineligible for re-enlistment makes you ineligible to apply.
IF YOU WISH TO APPLY FOR DEPUTY SHERIFF II OR THE SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER POSITIONS, YOU MUST HAVE A BASIC PEACE OFFICER CERTIFICATION SO YOU CAN CARRY A WEAPON. ADDITIONALLY, THE SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER POSITION REQUIRES AT LEAST 3 YEARS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPERIENCE.
